Character Design
Expression sheets and turnarounds for Road to Nowhere, a story about three young friends who, facing uncertainty about their future, find solace in going on adventures to seek cryptids and other supernatural beings. All work was created in Clip Studio Paint.
Inspired by my childhood fascination with the supernatural and exploring abandoned places with my friends, this project explores friendship, resilience, and the pursuit of meaning amid the unknown.
Explorations of poses and interactions between the three friends. Each illustration delves into how they connect and express themselves, offering a glimpse into their bonds and the story's themes of friendship and shared adventure.
Early Explorations
Before creating the turnaround sheets, I focused on exploring each character's design. I experimented with various shapes and colors to best convey their personalities.

Animal & Creature Design
These design explorations for Road to Nowhere showcase cryptids inspired by my childhood in California. Drawing from local folklore and scary stories I grew up hearing, I re-imagined these creatures to create a unique take.
Two bird designs inspired by species I observed at the zoo. I wanted to focus on pushing their unique shape language and colors. Birds are a recurring theme in my work because I’m deeply inspired their elegance and diversity. I'm also interested in conservation and scientific illustration. In future projects I aim to educate and inspire people to appreciate nature.
A griffin design inspired by the unique characteristics of Barn Owls and Flying Squirrels. My goal was to create an unconventional griffin that glides gracefully from tree to tree rather than soaring high in the air like traditional depictions. By combining elements from these two species, I aimed to emphasize the creature's agility and adaptability in a woodland environment.
A grayscale unicorn design I created for Inktober. I wanted to illustrate a darker interpretation of the mythical creature, with sharp teeth bared in a menacing snarl, six legs, and a curved horn reminiscent of a sickle.
