Visual Development
Visual development illustrations for my project, Road to Nowhere. These pieces allowed me to explore settings, character dynamics, and the use of color to push atmosphere and narrative.
Visdev for my comic South of The Sea, which served as the foundation for Road to Nowhere. For these pieces, I focused on shape language, color palettes, and honing my narrative illustration skills.
Initially, I considered taking the narrative in a more fantastical direction, so I illustrated a scene where the characters offer fish to a giant, egret-like creature to explore that concept further. However, I ultimately decided to ground the comic in reality, drawing inspiration from an adventure my best friend and I had during high school.
The character dynamics reflect our friendship, with the confident, bold character leading, and the more timid one following, representing how my friend helped get me out of my shell and build my confidence.
